About North Georgia

Books

An Outdoor Guide to Bartram's Travels by Charles D. Spornick, Alan R. Cattier, and Robert J. Greene. If your like us, what you really want to do is put the book down and go hike the trails that William Bartram traveled. This is the book you will want, along with one of the other two. We will say that some educated guessing takes place, but the hikes are fun.

Travels of William Bartram Edited by Mark van Doren, Travels has been in print since 1988. Still the best edition of his original work for those unfamiliar with Bartram.

The Natures of John and William Bartram Edited by James Dickey. The Natures of John and William Bartram by Thomas Slaughter. Interesting entry into the field because it shows the impact that William Bartram's father John had on the naturalist. He also delves into the differences of the men. We found it interesting and well worth reading for Bartram fans. Slaughter also examines the effect that both men had on Henry David Thoreau, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and others.
