About North Georgia

Introduction

William Root was a pharmacist who moved from Augusta, Georgia to the bustling city of Marietta to open a pharmacy for his employer in 1836. With the Panic of 1837 Root's boss wanted him to close the pharmacy and return to Augusta, but in the short time he lived in Marietta he developed a love for this young city on the Georgia frontier.
